May recap

May was such a fun month — spring weather always makes me eager to plan family outings! We did a pancake breakfast, the Science Center of Iowa, a building workshop and more! Here's a little recap:

 + TO MARKET, TO MARKET

Farmers' market season is officially here! We try to go at least once a month. First things first, Eric gets a breakfast burrito bowl and the kids and I share crepes and a smoothie. Then we walk around listening to live performers and checking out all the booths. Next time I want to buy a jar of guacamole. Yum!

 + BIKe RIDES!

We went on our first family bike ride of the year, and Finch did so much better than last year when he would basically cry the whole time and try to take off his helmet. Rooney is getting a little big for the trailer so we have talked about getting a ride-behind bike — would love suggestions/tips if you have one!

 + ON THE MOVE?

I don't think our current house is our forever house, mostly due to lot size/yard. We likely won't move anytime soon, but I've been learning how to look for houses (love the Zillow app!) and trying to figure out what we really want and need in our next place. I can see us tackling a fixer upper, and I can also see us building. We got excited about this cute little ranch. It has great bones and would be a fun project, but I wasn't crazy about the location...the search continues!

 + EVERYBODY'S DOING IT

We were gifted two Blue Apron meals and my verdict is: They are delicious! Each took an hour to make, which is a little long for us on a weeknight, but they truly do taste amazing. However, at $35/meal (which fed all 4 of us with some leftover), we can spend less than that eating out and not have dishes to wash. I feel like the instructions gave me more confidence in the kitchen, though. I would be into it if we could sign up for two meals per month instead of per week.

 + FOURTEEN YEARS

As of May 24, Eric and I have officially been together for 14 years. FOURTEEN! We started dating when I was 19, so almost half my life!

 + TV TALK

Fixer Upper is no longer on Netflix, and I'm bummed! We don't have cable, but I love that show and was really hoping to catch up! America's Got Talent just started last night, which I love. You have got to see this 12-year-old dance!

 + 'TIS THE SEASON

Rooney has entered the season of friend birthday parties...she had four this month alone! They are usually pretty laid back and fun for the whole family, though!

+ OKOBOJI TRIP #1

We went to our favorite spot over Memorial Day weekend and had THE BEST TIME EVER. It was definitely our best trip since having kids (you never know how a four-hour car ride is going to go, but it went as well as it could have!). Always fun to be with family, too. It was two glorious days of riding amusement park rides (Rooney got brave and rode the big roller coaster!), cousins playing together, watching HGTV and eating yummy food. We go back in a few weeks and are praying for awesome boating weather!

 + OUR LITTLE GRADUATE

Rooney graduated from preschool! We are so proud of her. She learned a lot this year — fun songs, sight words and (most important) how to be a good friend. God bless preschool teachers! Rooney also went to kindergarten camp and is so excited to go in the fall!
