26 weeks

  • How far along: 26 weeks
  • Baby's size: 1.7 pounds
  • Total weight gain: 1 pound
  • Baby's heart rate: 145 bpm
  • Maternity clothes: I love that my belly is starting to show bigger and bigger! I'm a huge fan of ruched shirts and dresses, and leggings.
  • Gender: Boy
  • Baby names: All settled. We don't talk about alternative names anymore, and try not to say his name at home because of Rooney. She told her daycare teachers his name is George, which she got from Peppa Pig ;) People are starting to guess, which always makes me sort of nervous! (Two people have guessed correctly, too! I was shocked! Guess I better keep my mouth shut!)
  • Movement: He is very active! They always say that at my appointments, too, but I think Rooney was just as active.
  • Sleep: It is not uncommon for me to wake up at 4:00 am and be awake for an hour or so.
  • What I miss: Not having a sore back, my energy
  • Cravings: Sugary snacks
  • Nursery update: We started building his closet system, and are getting the crib and dresser this weekend. It's coming together!
  • Mommy thoughts:
    • We had an ultrasound this week, which really eased my mind! He is growing perfectly! My belly was measuring one week small at my last midwife appointment (I was always right on with Rooney), and I had lost weight due to the Whole30, but the ultrasound confirmed that he is growing just fine! Phew!
    • I've been very forgetful. I forgot to shut off the van after parking - luckily they fool-proof those things so you can't lock yourself out while it's running. I ordered the wrong size pants for baby. And I tried to pay for conditioner at Walmart with my Target REDcard. Clearly there is a lot on my mind. I'm also forgetting to take my prenatal vitamin a lot more during this pregnancy, which makes me feel guilty! :-/
    • I love going to the chiropractor this pregnancy! I'm also hoping to schedule a prenatal massage soon.
    • I had some discharge and light spotting a couple days ago, which was kind of scary. I tried to stay calm but I was a little worried about it. I called my midwife immediately and I monitored it at home for an hour, and it didn't continue. So just another thing to watch! This boy is keeping us on our toes!
    • I am feeling pretty overwhelmed at the thought of having another child to care for. Rooney has been a handful lately and I'm starting to get nervous about having postpartum depression again.
    • Glucose test next week!
