basement progress

You may remember that last year we were working on finishing our basement. We worked on it pretty hard for about six months, and then we took a break from it last spring because Eric was going to make a career switch and we needed those funds for his job transition.

Well, with this baby on the way, we've ramped it up again in hopes of having a playroom and guest bedroom down there (which is what we're losing with the nursery), as well as a bathroom, office, living area and storage area. We have a ranch-style house, so our living space will be twice the size when it's done!

Eric's put a ton of time into this, and his dad also came down several weekends to help with building walls, electrical, plumbing, etc. We are so grateful to all our parents for helping us with this huge project in different ways.

Last week, the drywall hanging, mudding, taping, sanding and texturing got finished (we hired this part out to a crew). It may not look like much right now, but I'm really excited to show you more as we go!

Please tell me what you would do with this pole in the guest bedroom that supposedly has to stay...?

Next up: add faux brick paneling in the office, paint, lay flooring, add trim and doors, tile the shower, buy furniture, decorate, etc...

Eek! Lots to be done but I'm so excited!
